The Pan-Mass Challenge: Join the Fight Against Cancer

UPDATE 8/8/2017:

The 2017 Pan-Mass Challenge has now ended, but even though the bike-a-thon is over, Fagan Door is not ready to stop the fight against cancer.

Until the end of the month, you can still donate to help fund cancer research at Dana Farber.

Team Evan’s Crew’s goal is to reach $10,000, and Fagan Door will match every donation you make, dollar for dollar.

The Pan-Mass Challenge

The Pan-Mass Challenge brings together thousands of participants every year with one goal in mind: to help fund cancer research. Do you want to join the fight against cancer? Learn about the Pan-Mass Challenge and how you can ride to fight cancer.

What Is the Pan-Mass Challenge?

The Pan-Mass Challenge is an annual bike-a-thon that stretches across the commonwealth of Massachusetts. Since 1980, thousands of cyclists, donors, volunteers, and sponsors have come together every year to join the fight against cancer. When you ride, 100% of every dollar you raise goes to the Jimmy Fund to fund life-saving research for all different types of cancer. With the help of thousands of volunteers over this three-day event, the Pan-Mass Challenge is the most successful fundraising charity event in the nation.

Why Do We Ride?

Fagan Door will once again ride in the memory of one special angel, Evan Mandeville. Evan was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (an inoperable brain tumor) on November 13, 2011.Sadly, he passed away exactly one year later at age eleven, on November 13, 2012.  Evan was a 6th grade student at North Smithfield Middle School. He loved to play baseball, practice his cooking skills inthe kitchen, and go camping with his family. Evan is survived by his parents, Timothy J. and Aimee L. Mandeville, his older brother, Joshua, his two younger sisters, Emelie and Julia, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.Though the loss is great, the family channels their grief in raising funds to find a cure so no other family has to endure what they have.

How Can You Make a Difference for Children Like Evan?

Donations directly fund research. You can donate in any amount, and Fagan Door will match your donation. Your $10 turns into $20. Your $50 turns into $100. No donation is too small! Fagan Door is a member of Team Evan’s Crew. Team Evan’s Crew has been riding for the Pan-Mass Challenge for the last five years, and its members are dedicated to working to raise money to help patients with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma. Together as a team, we have raised more than $500,000 since Evan's passing.

Where Do My Donations Go?

When you donate to Team Evan’s Crew, 100% of all donations will directly fund research for Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Evan T. Mandeville DIPG Research Fund. Evan was a patient at Dana-Farber hospital, and was cared for by an excellent team of doctors, nurses, and staff. Unfortunately, for rare cancers like DIPG, clinical research trials are the only treatment option available.

UPDATE: The Pan Mass Challenge is over, but our fundraising efforts are still in high gear! We will continue to match all donations, dollar for dollar up to $10,000, through August 31. Please click the link below to make your donation!
